The Value Investor's Resource

"Never buy a stock because you think the price is going to go up, and never sell a stock because you think the price is going to go down." --Benjamin Graham

Value Investing

Value Investing is bargain shopping for stocks. When you look for a bargain, you are looking for two things: high quality and low price. The quality of a company is based on performance while the price is based on supply and demand. In the long run, the average price is almost always equal to the average quality. In the short run, the price and quality can be considerably different where some companies are overvalued and others are undervalued. Value investing aims to identify which companies are on sale and which are overpriced.

Searching For Companies

You can search for companies in two ways. The "Performance" search will help you find high quality companies. This search returns companies that have been growing consistently for a long period of time. The growth is based on the bottom line information (earnings, equity, and cash flow) from each company's accounting statements. The "Value" search will help you find high quality companies that are currently trading for low prices. This search returns only the top performing companies sorted according to the company's relative pricing data. Once you find a company in which you are interested, you can view an objective summary for the company and quickly link to other sources for more information.

Try It Out

You can search every company traded on the AMEX, NASDAQ, and NYSE. Try it out by entering a stock exchange, sector (like technology), or industry in the search box below and checking either the "Performance" (default) button or the "Value" button. Here's a link to a "Value" search of NYSE.
